Nature, Movement &Wellbeing
Taking care of your mental health doesn’t always happen in a counselling office. Sometimes, it can start with a walk outside and a conversation with someone new. Research has shown that regular physical activity, time outdoors, and meaningful social connection can support our mental wellbeing in many ways, from reducing stress and improving mood to strenghing our sense of belonging. That is why we offer seasonal and year-round outdoor programs that create these simple opportunities.
What you can Expect
Our outdoor programs are designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where you can:
-
Enjoy light to moderate physical activity at a comfortable pace
-
Spend time outdoors and experience the benefits of nature
-
Meet new people and build meaningful community connections
-
Share conversations about everyday life, or about mental health, if and when you choose
There is no expectation or pressure to talk about your mental health. Some participants simply enjoy the walk, fresh air, and company of others, while others find that conversations happen naturally over time. Whether you come to socialize, move your body, spend time outdoors, or seek support, you are welcome exactly as you are.
Tranquil Trail Hiking
Tranquil Trails is a welcoming, guided hiking program that runs every Tuesday morning. Our hikes provide light to moderate physical activity and typically rotate between three local trails:
-
Raptor Loop Trail
-
Wood Lake Rail Trail
-
Okanagan Centre Beach Trail
Trail difficulty and terrain vary. Route details are shared the Friday before each hike so you know what to expect. During the winter months, locations may change or hikes may be cancelled depending on weather and trail conditions.
When: Year-round on Tuesdays from 9:00–10:00/10:30 a.m., depending on the route.
