Grief Support
Grief is a natural response to loss, and it can look different for everyone. Whether you are grieving the death of someone important to you or navigating another significant life change, there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Each person’s experience is unique.
We believe no one should have to navigate grief alone, which is why we offer two grief peer support groups for our community. Our ongoing Grief Peer Support Group welcomes individuals to attend when it feels right for them, without the commitment of joining for a set number of sessions. We are also accepting participants for a closed six-week Grief Peer Support Group for individuals who are grieving the loss of a parent and/or guardian.
Both groups offer a welcoming and confidential space to connect with others navigating grief, share experiences if you choose, and simply be with people who understand some of what you are going through. Explore the sections below to find what option is right for you.
Grief Peer Support Group
Our Grief Peer Support Group meets every second Friday for facilitated peer support and conversation. Together, group members explore the many realities of grief, offer encouragement, and learn from one another's experiences in a compassionate and supportive environment.
This is a peer support group rather than a counselling or therapy service. While our facilitators guide the conversation and help create a safe space, the strength of the group comes from the shared support, understanding, and connection between participants.
Participation is always voluntary—whether you choose to share your thoughts or simply listen, you are welcome.
When: Bi-weekly (every two weeks) on Friday from 1:00-2:45pm in Lake Country.
Registration: Anyone interested in joining the group, please e-mail us at mental-health@lakecountryhealth.ca
Before joining, we will have a brief one-on-one intake meeting. This provides an opportunity for you to learn more about the group, review the confidentiality agreement and group guidelines, ask questions, discuss what you are looking for, and explore how we may best support you.
Parent & Guardian Loss Peer Support Group
Our Parent & Guardian Loss Grief Peer Support Group is a closed six-week program for individuals grieving the death of a parent or guardian. The same participants meet each week, offering a consistent and confidential space to connect with others who have experienced a similar loss.
