Digital Mentor
Help older adults build confidence in today's digital world
Why this Role Matters
Technology can open the door to staying connected with loved ones, accessing healthcare, managing daily tasks, and finding reliable information—but for many older adults, learning new devices and applications can feel overwhelming.
What You'll Do
As a Digital Mentor, you'll provide patient, one-on-one support to help them:
-
Use smartphones and tablets confidently
-
Learn video calling (Zoom, FaceTime, etc.)
-
Set up and use email
-
Safely browse the internet and find trustworthy information
-
Access telehealth appointments and online services
-
Manage photos, apps, and other everyday digital tasks
Your Impact
Your guidance will help older adults develop practical digital skills, increase their confidence, and stay connected to family, friends, community resources, and online services. Whether you're showing someone how to send their first email, join a virtual appointment, or safely browse the internet, your encouragement and support can have a lasting impact on their independence and quality of life.
Is This Role Right for You?
Yes, if you have:
-
Patience and a friendly, encouraging attitude
-
Good communication skills
-
Basic comfort with smartphones, tablets, or computers
-
A desire to give back to your community
No prior teaching experience is required — just a willingness to share what you know.
Time Commitment
Flexible: typically 1–2 hours per month. You and the participant can schedule sessions at times that work best for both of you (in-person or virtual).
